Do you already have a Dehydrator? There are many dehydrators out there and I have had a few over the years. I currently own the Excalibur 9 tray with the timer and temperature control. Click here to see it on amazon (not an affiliate link).

How did I end up with this Dehydrator?
When I was first starting out this is the dehydrator, I saw all the homesteaders I was watching on YouTube had. however, my sister spotted a different brand at Costco and called me and asked if I wanted to share it. It was a very expensive one and I was excited! We picked it up and I got to work dehydrating anything I could think of. When it was her turn, she decided that she didn’t like it as much as she thought she would. She wanted to return it! I said, “NO WAY!” I ended up buying the other half of it from her and it was a big investment for our family at the time. The dehydrator had a permanent spot in our house and was running all the time! I loved it. We ended up going through some things and getting rid of most of our belongings including my beloved dehydrator.
Years later I was able to get a small cheap round one from Walmart. This one worked and did the job of simple dehydrating, but it was nothing like my old one. When we moved to Montana, I went to plug the cheap one in, and it had broken! I was so sad! My husband, David, said I could order a new one, so I looked up the Excalibur and tried to order it. Key word “TRIED”. I ordered it when it was on sale on Amazon, and then the delivery didn’t happen. Not once but TWICE this happened. Then i was searching on Facebook marketplace and I found the one I now have for a steal! And it was in great condition!
So, tell me, does it work?
YES! I think it work great! In my opinion, I prefer the fan in the back blowing forward over the food, rather than the fan on the bottom blowing up. I like the adjustable temperature gauge so you can dehydrate at a “raw” temperature, or you can also things like jerky that require a higher temperature. I think that dehydrators are a great and different way to preserve things. Do you have a dehydrator? What is your favorite thing to dehydrate?
